The Melbourne Stars would like to congratulate and thank Kristen Beams upon her retirement from the Rebel WBBL today.
The 35-year-old announced in October that this would be her final campaign with the Stars and the WBBL.
Having captained the side in WBBL|03 and WBBL|04, Beams will finish as a one club player, signing with the Stars at the inception of the competition.
If named in today’s team, Beams will play her 45th and final match for the Stars, currently sitting on 37 WBBL wickets.
“I’ve loved the last five years with the Melbourne Stars and being part of the Stars family. To see the WBBL grow from the first year of competition to what it is now has been a fantastic journey,” Beams said.
“I’d like to thank the Melbourne Stars for their support. I’m really proud of the club and what it represents, and I wish them well for the future.”
Head Coach David Hemp also congratulated Beams on her career at the Stars and spoke about the impact she has made on the club.
“Kristen’s career needs no introduction and we’d like to thank and congratulate her for the last five years at the Melbourne Stars,” Hemp said.
“Her contributions off the field have been just as important as on the field. She has driven our club’s culture and she has mentored a number of young players coming through the Victorian and Stars ranks. We wish her well on the next stage of her life.”
The Melbourne Stars will thank Beams for her contribution to the club during today’s match against the Brisbane Heat.
