After seven weeks and 14 games, the WBBL|05 finals are here at last. On Saturday, the Melbourne Renegades will meet the Brisbane Heat for a spot in the competition final 24 hours later.
The Renegades will enter the match without their English duo Danni Wyatt and Tammy Beaumont, who are now on international duties.
Fortunately, Sri Lankan batter Chamari Athapaththu is available to play, after flying in last week for her season debut against the Sydney Thunder.
Athapaththu and New Zealand fast bowler Lea Tahuhu are the two internationals in the Renegades 13-player squad.
Saturday’s match will give the team its second shot at a WBBL finals campaign after the heartbreak of last season’s super over loss to the Sydney Sixers.
Led by captain Jess Duffin, the ‘Gades had three players named in the WBBL|05 Team of the Tournament, and boast some of the league’s most in form players.
The match will be broadcast live around the country on 7mate from 2.30pm (AEDT).
The winner will progress to the WBBL|05 final to be played at Allan Border Field on Sunday against the winner of the clash between the Adelaide Strikers and the Perth Scorchers.
